Riichi Ueshiba is the creator, author, and mangaka of both manga series. Frequently, he would spoof his earlier work, Mysterious Girlfriend X, by placing cross-references in Ookumo-Flashback that refer back to instances and events in Mysterious Girlfriend X. No specific spoofs in Chapter 11, but a general tendency for teen boys to want to see girls wearing bikini swimsuits is highlighted in both series.
Minaru, the male protagonist, gets to see his potential future girlfriend, Ninomae, at the beach, wearing a pretty, little girl's style bikini swimsuit. But he really wants to see his mom, Aya, wearing a bikini swimsuit. This he gets to do at home, when Aya changes into her bikini, not knowing that Minaru is also at home.
In Mysterious Girlfriend X, the male protagonist, Tsubaki is at the beach with his girlfriend, Urabe. He can observe many girls wearing bikinis, but he only wants to see Urabe wearing her sexy, black bikini, with, of course, her scissors showing in her bikini panties.
